El Capitan has a real presence in the paddock with a very impressive conformation & pleasing head type. He carries a bright extremely dense well organised fleece with no visible transition lines. He has retained a really good level of fineness and softness of hand.
In 2022 El Capitan joined our group of Elite breeding studs as a working male at Acton Hill and we spent the whole year looking forward to seeing his first progeny in the 2023 birthing season.
AHL El Capitan continues to have a huge impact on our breeding programme, he’s achieved so much in such a short period of time growing from a standout cria to a highly desirable macho producing award winning progeny.
We held very high expectations of El Capitan as a sire so we set him to work at 2yrs of age, his first 6 cria arrived in the summer of 2023 & they’ve well & truly delivered handsomely, to date they’ve collected 12 First Places, 10 Second Places, 13 Colour Champion Sashes, 1x Reserve Supreme Champion Sash, 1x Best of British Sash, 1x Supreme Champion Sash & 2x Sires Progeny Champion Sashes.
Not only has Capitan passed on his award winning fleece traits he has consistently produced cria carrying his outstanding phenotype including his impressive head style. It’s no surprise when you look at his pedigree, he boasts EP Cambridge Trail Blazer as his sire but his dam is also spectacular in her own right. Capitan’s dam is Houghton Bettina II who continues to deliver outstanding offspring, Constantina her first daughter recently collected Judges Choice for her third fleece to add to her collection of sashes & Jailbreaker has just collected his second Supreme Champion Sash of his first show season. Bettina is a standout female & she has most certainly passed on her look to El Capitan.
Capi was awarded an increase in covers after his outstanding first year with 10 exceptional cria on the ground in year two he’s become our most selected male & with the consistency he’s shown to advance his progeny we doubled up his matings again for summer 2025 . El Capitan has been a very busy boy & we are looking forward to seeing the next steps in his journey.
